Our Creation Story

Like many great ideas, this little family of fur-lovers was born at a coffee shop on a brisk, sunny day. When two highly-productive and passionate friends get together, it’s almost inevitable that ideas will start to fly. And so they did.

Dr. Jessa Kocher is a native of small-town Illinois.

She attended the University of Illinois and graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2011.  Dr. Kocher practiced at a progressive small animal hospital in North Carolina for a year after graduation before her love of the mountains prompted her to move across the country to Colorado.  She started in 2012 at a Colorado Springs privately owned practice that sold corporately during her tenure.

Jessa of Fox Run Veterinary Clinic

At the coffee shop, Dr. Kocher’s discouragement with the corporatization of veterinary medicine surfaced – discouragement that stemmed from the lack of authenticity and connection, the lack of appreciation for team members, the lack of focus on the quality of care because it was more about the bottom line. Veterinary medicine historically is an entrepreneurial profession, but in recent years has undergone much corporatization.  While acting as Medical Director under the corporate model, Dr. Kocher realized that this was not a good fit for her and that it was preventing her from providing the quality of care that she truly values for her clients and patients.  Dr. Kocher values service focused on deep connections and giving back to clients, patients, staff, and community.

Enter her entrepreneurial dreams and her connection with Jessica Daniels and The Success Collective.  Jessica Daniels, a real-estate agent and home design specialist, is one of the founding members of The Success Collective, a group of incredible women who are revolutionizing the way business is done.  This group believes that everyone wins when you pour your heart and soul into your profession and business, when you give without asking what you stand to gain in return.

Dr. Kocher values service focused on deep connections and giving back to clients, patients, staff, and community.

She has a passion for helping women succeed as entrepreneurs and a passion for making an impact on the local community.  She strongly believes that your business success is based on the quality of the people representing your business.

Together, they brainstormed a utopia of the veterinary world. A hospital where they care deeply about the people and the pets that walk through their door.  A hospital where medical treatment is innovative and industry-leading. A hospital where staff members are valued, trained well, and treated like family. A hospital where the facility is beautiful, efficient, welcoming and acts as a tool for community and connection. A hospital where volunteers are welcomed, encouraged, trained and uplifted to inspire the next generation of pet-loving service providers. A hospital where giving back to the community and seeking opportunities to serve is prioritized. That is the hospital we hope and strive to create for you.
